It’s Thursday, Guys… And it’s A Teaching day. Let me quickly say that this blog is dedicated to great content and that includes feeding your soul and spirit with God’s Words.
So let’s dive into the scriptures quickly. The Word of God says that we “were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be made new in the attitude of your minds”(Ephesians 4:22-23 NIV)
Now that’s some word!
Let’s break it down so we can get the best of what the Scriptures want us to know. There is an “old self” that needs to be put off. There is a nature of “deceitful desires” that makes the old self corrupt and if we entertain such desires, the “new man” will just be no different from the “old self”
It’s important that every individual recoginises and identifies these “deceitful desires”. They might not appear to be sinful at a glance, but a closer look will show that they are “weights and easily besetting ” (Hebrews 12:1) that need to be thrown off and laid aside.
The new man is created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24) and our responsibility is to keep the new us free from the corruption of the old us. This is possible, but quite difficult, especially if we rely on our personal efforts and strength.
The best way to ensure that the old us is dead and dead is found in the scriptures too. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11 KJV)
Dear Friend, rely on the Holy Spirit daily and you’d see the new you always popping up like a shining star.
Till we see again next Thursday, remain blessed!
