Dr. Jane sat across the room with Bob looking down and fiddling with his fingers. “Bob, let’s talk about what happened with Sally” she said. It was as though a tap of words was opened as Bob rattled with anger and frustration while Dr. Jane listened with rapt attention.
“Bob, I’m sorry” she said so casually. Little did she know that she hurt me deeply.
Sally is my twin sister and we shared everything together. But lately, I noticed she hadn’t been sharing so much with me. She’s got a new friend. A boyfriend.
And even though I’m not jealous or anything like that, you don’t just shut out your twin brother just because one guy suddenly begins to shower you with attention. And then to crown it all up, she never even mentioned me to him. The nerve!
I felt embarrassed while standing there introducing myself to him like “Hi I’m Bob, Sally’s twin brother” and she was like “Yeah, Ken, I forgot to mention, I’m a twin”
Like you forgot to mention!!!
Needless to say, I guess I know where I stand. I have no right to feel entitled. I should never have felt so”
Bob left Dr. Jane’s office feeling much better. With the anger and resentment all let out, he soon began to forgive Sally.
